ALICE MAWBEY IN FREMANTLE

Alice Mawbey was the older sister of John Thomas Mawbey whose wife and three of their children were brutally murdered by part-Aboriginal man, Jimmy Governor, at Breelong, NSW, in July 1900.
She was born in Petersham, Sydney in 1845, the third child of George and Ann Mawbey (nee Williams) who married in Sydney in 1838.
In 1871 Alice married Frederick Smith at Petersham in Sydney, NSW.
She died in Perth Public Hospital during the week ended 25 October 1917 aged 72.

SMITH.—The Friends of the late Mr. Frederick Smith (late wholesale fruiterer, Victoria) are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the place of interment, the Church of England portion of the Fremantle Cemetery. Melville died 1895 at age 23 in Melbourne of phthisis (tuberculosis) and exhaustion. At the time he was living in the family home at  273 Sydney Road, Royal Park.
Eight years later in 1903 his father died in Fremantle near Perth, Western Australia.
His mother died in Perth in 1917.
