Alice Mawbey was the older sister of John Thomas Mawbey whose wife and three of their children were brutally murdered by part-Aboriginal man, Jimmy Governor, at Breelong, NSW, in July 1900.
She was born in Petersham, Sydney in 1845, the third child of George and Ann Mawbey (nee Williams) who married in Sydney in 1838.
In 1871 Alice married Frederick Smith at Petersham in Sydney, NSW.
She died in Perth Public Hospital during the week ended 25 October 1917 aged 72.
