ABORIGINAL OUTLAW JIMMY GOVERNOR WA LINK

Sunday Times, Perth, Sunday 6 January 1918
PERTH PRATTLE.
That pretty Sydney girl who charmed the youth of Perth during the skating season has gone back East, but she left her heart in this State. Our Sydney namesake announces the engagement of Miss Daphne Mawbey, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Mawbey, Kensington to Mr. William Shade, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Shade, of W.A. Mr. Shade (may it never grow less) is a returned soldier.

Daphne's father, George Mawbey, was the younger brother of the man whose wife and three children were murdered by the Aboriginal outlaw, Jimmy Governor, and others at Breelong, NSW in July 1901.
Her brother, George Jnr, was staying with his uncle at Breelong, and escaped being murdered by hiding under a bed.

Daphne, b. 1897, ended up marrying William Allen at Randwick, Sydney in 1920 when she was 23.
